Abasa [He frowned ]
| | | AAabasa watawalla
| | (The Prophet) frowned and turned away,
|
| | | An jaahu al-aAAma
| | Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting).
|
| | | Wama yudreeka laAAallahu yazzakka
| | But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?-
|
| | | Aw yaththakkaru fatanfaAAahu alththikra
| | Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?
|
| | | Amma mani istaghna
| | As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient,
|
| | | Faanta lahu tasadda
| | To him dost thou attend;
|
| | | Wama AAalayka alla yazzakka
| | Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding).
|
| | | Waamma man jaaka yasAAa
| | But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly,
|
| | | Wahuwa yakhsha
| | And with fear (in his heart),
|
| | | Faanta AAanhu talahha
| | Of him wast thou unmindful.
|
| | | Kalla innaha tathkiratun
| | By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction:
|
| | | Faman shaa thakarahu
| | Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance.
|
| | | Fee suhufin mukarramatin
| | (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour,
|
| | | MarfooAAatin mutahharatin
| | Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,
|
| | | Bi-aydee safaratin
| | (Written) by the hands of scribes-
|
| | | Kiramin bararatin
| | Honourable and Pious and Just.
|
| | | Qutila al-insanu ma akfarahu
| | Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah;
|
| | | Min ayyi shay-in khalaqahu
| | From what stuff hath He created him?
|
| | | Min nutfatin khalaqahu faqaddarahu
| | From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;
|
| | | Thumma alssabeela yassarahu
| | Then doth He make His path smooth for him;
|
| | | Thumma amatahu faaqbarahu
| | Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave;
|
| | | Thumma itha shaa ansharahu
| | Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again).
|
| | | Kalla lamma yaqdi ma amarahu
| | By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him.
|
| | | Falyanthuri al-insanu ila taAAamihi
| | Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it):
|
| | | Anna sababna almaa sabban
| | For that We pour forth water in abundance,
|
| | | Thumma shaqaqna al-arda shaqqan
| | And We split the earth in fragments,
|
| | | Faanbatna feeha habban
| | And produce therein corn,
|
| | | WaAAinaban waqadban
| | And Grapes and nutritious plants,
|
| | | Wazaytoonan wanakhlan
| | And Olives and Dates,
|
| | | Wahada-iqa ghulban
| | And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees,
|
| | | Wafakihatan waabban
| | And fruits and fodder,
|
| | | MataAAan lakum wali-anAAamikum
| | For use and convenience to you and your cattle.
|
| | | Fa-itha jaati alssakhkhatu
| | At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,-
|
| | | Yawma yafirru almaro min akheehi
| | That Day shall a man flee from his own brother,
|
| | | Waommihi waabeehi
| | And from his mother and his father,
|
| | | Wasahibatihi wabaneehi
| | And from his wife and his children.
|
| | | Likulli imri-in minhum yawma-ithin sha/nun yughneehi
| | Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.
|
| | | Wujoohun yawma-ithin musfiratun
| | Some faces that Day will be beaming,
|
| | | Dahikatun mustabshiratun
| | Laughing, rejoicing.
|
| | | Wawujoohun yawma-ithin AAalayha ghabaratun
| | And other faces that Day will be dust-stained,
|
| | | Tarhaquha qataratun
| | Blackness will cover them:
|
| | | Ola-ika humu alkafaratu alfajaratu
| | Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity.
