Al-Ghashiya [The overwhelming ]
| | | Hal ataka hadeethu alghashiyati
| | Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)?
|
| | | Wujoohun yawma-ithin khashiAAatun
| | Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated,
|
| | | AAamilatun nasibatun
| | Labouring (hard), weary,-
|
| | | Tasla naran hamiyatan
| | The while they enter the Blazing Fire,-
|
| | | Tusqa min AAaynin aniyatin
| | The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring,
|
| | | Laysa lahum taAAamun illa min dareeAAin
| | No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari'
|
| | | La yusminu wala yughnee min jooAAin
| | Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger.
|
| | | Wujoohun yawma-ithin naAAimatun
| | (Other) faces that Day will be joyful,
|
| | | LisaAAyiha radiyatun
| | Pleased with their striving,-
|
| | | Fee jannatin AAaliyatin
| | In a Garden on high,
|
| | | La tasmaAAu feeha laghiyatan
| | Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity:
|
| | | Feeha AAaynun jariyatun
| | Therein will be a bubbling spring:
|
| | | Feeha sururun marfooAAatun
| | Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high,
|
| | | Waakwabun mawdooAAatun
| | Goblets placed (ready),
|
| | | Wanamariqu masfoofatun
| | And cushions set in rows,
|
| | | Wazarabiyyu mabthoothatun
| | And rich carpets (all) spread out.
|
| | | Afala yanthuroona ila al-ibili kayfa khuliqat
| | Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?-
|
| | | Wa-ila alssama-i kayfa rufiAAat
| | And at the Sky, how it is raised high?-
|
| | | Wa-ila aljibali kayfa nusibat
| | And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?-
|
| | | Wa-ila al-ardi kayfa sutihat
| | And at the Earth, how it is spread out?
|
| | | Fathakkir innama anta muthakkirun
| | Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish.
|
| | | Lasta AAalayhim bimusaytirin
| | Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs.
|
| | | Illa man tawalla wakafara
| | But if any turn away and reject Allah,-
|
| | | FayuAAaththibuhu Allahu alAAathaba al-akbara
| | Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment,
|
| | | Inna ilayna iyabahum
| | For to Us will be their return;
|
| | | Thumma inna AAalayna hisabahum
| | Then it will be for Us to call them to account.
